Joint Usage/Research Center for Interdisciplinary Large-scale Information Infrastructures

The Information Initiative Center (IIC) at Hokkaido University commenced full-scale operation as a “Joint Usage/Research Center for Interdisciplinary Large-scale Information Infrastructures” (JHPCN) in April 2010, after it was certified by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

The JHPCN is made up of the eight centers equipped with supercomputers: Hokkaido University, Tohoku University, The University of Tokyo, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Nagoya University, Kyoto University, Osaka University, and Kyushu University. This is a “network-type” joint usage/research center, and its core institution is the Information Technology Center of the University of Tokyo.

The Information Initiative Center at Hokkaido University promotes joint research projects in the areas of high-performance computing, numerical linear algebra, large-scale applications, program development technology, and Inter-cloud.
