Professor Izumi Fuse of the Media Education Research Division, along with co-authors, received the Best Paper Award for the paper entitled “Development of Learning Environment for Programming in Beginner’s Class – Support for Learning of Ruby Language in Moodle Environment – ” presented at the 2016 Annual Conference of the Academic eXchange for Information Environment and Strategy (AXIES) (March 15, 2017).

A research group in the Media Education Research Division presented a paper entitled “Practice and Assessment of a Flipped Classroom Method Using Open Educational Resources” at the 29th National Conference of the Japan Society for Educational Technology (September 2013) (Associate Professor Katsusuke Shigeta, Professor Izumi Fuse, and one other). Associate Professor Katsusuke Shigeta received the Research Encouragement Award. The award ceremony was held at Gifu University on September 20, 2014.

Professor Izumi Fuse of the Media Education Research Division, along with co-authors, received an Excellent Research Award for the paper entitled “Survey of Awareness to Information Ethics Using Cartoons” presented at the 7th National Conference of the Japanese Association for Education of Information Studies (July 2014).

A research group led by Professor Yoshiaki Takai of the Information Network Research Division received the 2011 MVE Award for the paper entitled “Augmented Reality Communication System Using Smartphones” presented at the Multimedia and Virtual Environment Study Group of the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (October 2010). The award ceremony was held at Wakkanai City Cultural Center on October 13, 2011.

Four members of the Media Education Research Division received an Excellent Paper Award for the paper entitled “The Role of Graduate School TA in General Information Education — Developing Practical and Leadership Abilities for Educational Guidance” (Associate Professor Izumi Fuse and Professor Shigeto Okabe) and for the presentation entitled “Construction of the WBT for Global Training” (Professor Yuri Nishihori, Assistant Professor Yuichi Yamamoto) presented at the 2008 Information Education Workshop.

A joint research on information ethics video teaching materials created jointly by a task force of the National University Institute of Information-based Center Council (NIPC), to which Associate Professor Izumi Fuse and Professor Shigeto Okabe belong, received an Excellence Award in the category of Educational Video at the International Conference of the Special Interest Group on University and College Computing Services (SIGUCCS) of the U.S. Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). The award ceremony was held on October 23 in Portland, U.S.A.

Professor Yuri Nishihori and Assistant Professor Yuichi Yamamoto of the Media Education Research Division received the Best Poster Presentation Award for the presentation entitled “A Comparative Analysis of Learner Awareness Between Multi-Point Connections in a Videoconferencing Class” presented at ICCE2007. The award ceremony was held at the Grand Prince Hotel Hiroshima on November 8, 2007.

Information ethics video teaching materials (part 2) created in collaboration with the National Institute of Multimedia Education (NIME) by a task force of the National University Institute of Information-based Center Council (NIPC), to which Professor Shigeto Okabe and Assistant Professor Izumi Fuse of the Media Education and Research Division belong, was awarded Second Prize in the 2005 Educational Video category by the Special Interest Group on University and College Computing Services (SIGUCCS) of the U.S. Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). The award ceremony was held on November 8 in California, U.S.A.

Professor Yoshiaki Takai of the Information Network Research Division and Hiroki Kashiwazaki, Ph.D. student of the Graduate School of Engineering were awarded the Technology Prize at “Information Processing Symposium in Hokkaido 2004,” held by the Hokkaido Chapter of the Information Processing Society of Japan for their paper entitled, “REI: Adaptive Routing Method Based on Delay Time Information.”
